Men’s Golf Heads to Florida for Tournament Play
DAVIDSON, N.C. – In search of its fourth straight conference title and fifth in the last six appearances, Davidson will head to Orlando for the 2024 Atlantic 10 Men’s Golf Championships April 26-28 at Evermore Resort.
The three-day / 54-hole event will take place on the 7,075-yard Cypress Course layout. Play will begin Friday morning at 7:30 a.m. off the 1st and 10th tees.
In addition to winning the last three A-10 crowns, the Wildcats enter with nine Top-5 showings in 10 events this season, highlighted by wins at the Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate and Sea Palms Invitational.
Junior Will Davis leads Davidson with a 70.51 stroke average, which includes three Top-5 finishes, five Top-10s and a win in the fall at the USF Invitational.
Alex Heffner, two-time Conference Player of the Year, and Joshua Stewart are tied with a 70.86 stroke average, while combining for six Top-5s and 12 Top-10 showings in 2023-24.
Freshman Will Tharin (74.81) and sophomore Price Miller (74.30) will also be in the Wildcats’ lineup this weekend.
A year ago, Davidson led wire-to-wire to win its fourth title in five tries by eight shots over then-league-newcomer Loyola-Chicago.
Heffner (69-67-70 = 206 | -10), the only golfer in the field to record three straight rounds under par, became the ninth player in school history to win a conference title, and third (Jack Lang – 2017 | Mike Blasey – 2018) since the Wildcats joined the A-10 prior to the 2014 season.
In eight Atlantic 10 Championship appearances, the Wildcats have captured four titles (2018, 2021, 2022, 2023), a runner-up and third-place showing, while recording an average finish of 2.9.
