ORLANDO, FLA. – Davidson’s women’s tennis program concluded its 2023-24 season on Thursday evening after falling 4-0 to No. 4 Fordam throughout a hard fought match in the Atlantic 10 Championship quarterfinals. 

The Wildcats finish the year 13-10 overall and 3-4 in conference contests, while senior Emma Heiderscheit ends her final season at Davidson with five singles wins, nine doubles wins including a clutch 7-5, 6-1 solo victory at No. 3 during Wednesday’s first round win over Saint Joseph’s. 

In doubles play, Daniela Porges and Kavya Patel took a 6-3 win on court one to start the day before the Rams were able to defeat the ‘Cats on courts two and three to earn the doubles point. 

Fordham extended its lead with a two-set victory in the No. 4 spot while the top three courts were all pushed to three sets. Davidson never stopped its fight with Porges, Patel and Emma Heiderschiet all dropping their opening set before soaring back to force three. 

With Bryson Langford on cort five and Charlotte Calderwood on court six in tie-break situations, the Rams were able to secure the 6-2, 7-6(3) triumph in the No. 6 spot, inching them closer to a clinch. 

Heiderscheit never let up her fight, however, she fell just short of the comeback win as her opponent took the third set to clinch the match for No. 4 Fordham.
