Men’s Tennis Falls to Dayton in A-10 Tournament
ORLANDO, FLA. – The sixth seeded Davidson men’s tennis team was topped 4-1 by No. 3 seed Dayton Friday in the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic 10 Championships.
The Wildcats round out the 2024 spring season with an 8-13 overall record and 2-4 mark in league contests.
The Flyers took an early 1-0 lead after taking wins on courts one and three to secure the doubles point leaving Juan Camilo Perez Gongora and Nico Pinzon unfinished on court two.
From there, Dayton earned two-bout wins in the No. five and No. 3 spots respectively in order to put itself within striking distance of a sweep.
However, Udday Singh put the Flyers thoughts of a shutout to rest when he claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win on court two. Perez Gongora and Daytons No. 1 player Connor Bruce fought for every point in an even 6-6 second set, but Perez Gongora was just short of the comeback win as the Flyers clinched the final team point.
