Davis Selected to Compete at NCAA Golf Regional as an Individual

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson’s Will Davis has been selected to compete at the 2024 NCAA Chapel Hill Men’s Golf Regional as an individual competitor May 13-15 at UNC Finley Golf Course.
Ranked 179th in the most recent National Rankings, Davis joins Jack Lang (2017, 2019), Richard Fountain (2011, 2013, 2014), Rusty Boyd (1973) and Mike Spann (1967-69) as the only Wildcats to participate in the NCAA Regional as an individual competitor.

“I’m very excited for Will,” said head coach Tim Straub. “He’s had a great year and deserved an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.”
A junior from Jacksonville, Fla., Davis is coming off a third-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Men’s Golf Championships. The two-time (2023, 2024) all-conference performer finished with a 54-hole total of 209 (-7) for his fourth Top-3 showing of the 2023-24 campaign.
Davis, who picked up his first career individual title in the fall at the USF Invitational, has a 70.50 stroke average this year, highlighted by 22 sub-par rounds.
Named A-10 Rookie of the Year in 2022, Davis competed in the last two NCAA Regionals (Palm Beach Gardens & Las Vegas) as a result of Davidson’s automatic bids as conference champions.
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals not on those qualifying teams who will compete at the National Championships. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals.
The 2024 National Championships will be hosted by the University of Texas at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa May 24-29.
