DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson women’s soccer alumna Vicky Bruce ’15 was announced Wednesday as Carolina Ascent Football Club’s first signee of the 2024-25 season, bringing her talents back home following a seven-year professional stint abroad.

Bruce, who transferred to Davidson after two years at UNC, had an excellent junior debut as a Wildcat, ranking second on the team in goals and points. As a senior, the Cornelius, N.C., native topped the team with a career-high nine assists, 13 points and 63 shots. For her efforts as a Wildcat, Bruce was named to the A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll her senior Spring semester and solidified her name in Davidson women’s soccer history with a program-best four-assist game.

“We are so excited for Vicky Bruce and her opportunity to play in the USL Super League, especially right here in Charlotte,” said head coach Riley Piechnick. “This is a huge accomplishment for her, and an exciting moment for our program to have an alum playing at the highest professional level in the United States.

“Vicky had an awesome two-year career here at Davidson before spending the last seven years playing professionally in Europe and Australia. While I didn’t get to coach Vicky, I have gotten to know her over the past year, and she has spent time around the team before her last contract. It is evident she is a competitor, a strong leader and has a passion for the game and growing it in the community. She is so deserving of this, and as a program, we can’t wait to continue following her career and cheering her on from Davidson. Big things are ahead for you, Vicky!!”
