PITTSBURGH – Powered by Jenna Skibbe’s third six-goal performance of the season, the Davidson lacrosse team defeated George Mason 17-4 on Thursday and advanced to the Atlantic 10 Conference’s semifinal matchup.

The Wildcats jumped all over the Patriots and never looked back, building out to a 7-0 run and not allowing a George Mason goal until the 10:58-mark of the second quarter.

With 2:12 remaining in the first half, Riley Cochrane scored her second of the game that gave Davidson a 10-goal lead, 12-2, and allowed the ‘Cats to hang onto the running clock for the remainder of the contest.

Fellow freshman Brooke Ross followed Skibbe’s scoring efforts, recording her third hat trick of the season.

Riley Moore (2), Lauren Garcia (1), Julianne Carey (1) and Josie Lambert (1) also aided the offense, while Lambert and Noelle Cegielski caused three turnovers apiece.

Davidson went 25-of-25 on clear attempts and Paige Doyle and Kayla Joyce combined for 9 saves in the victory.
