Over 30 years at The Charlotte Observer, columnist Scott Fowler has built an unparalleled contact list of sports icons. ABOUT BOB MCKILLOP
The Davidson men’s basketball coach for 33 spectacular seasons before retiring in 2022, McKillop coached the Wildcats to 10 NCAA tournament appearances and had 634 career wins. He was the national coach of the year in 2008, the year that a Davidson team featuring a young Steph Curry made it all the way to the NCAA Elite Eight. He still lives in Davidson. His son, Matt, succeeded him as the Wildcats’ head coach.
