Shopping starts at the ringing of the market bell.
Hello Market Shoppers,
It’s our Mother’s Day Market. We’ve got a few great ideas for you to show your love and appreciation for your momma or special woman in your life – wife, auntie, bestie, nana, and more!
Idea #1
Bring your mom and special someone to the Market! Grab a cup of coffee or tea at Summit Coffee. Then take a stroll through the Market and let your momma pick out a beautiful spring flower bouquet. Stop by her favorite vendors for a breakfast or brunch treat. Find a spot under a red umbrella at the top of the Market and sit for a chat and listen to our talented musician, Maggie Lowe. Then meander through the market again and pick out some yummy local items for lunch, dinner, and the rest of the week.
Idea #2
Let your mom or special person sleep in and rest. While they are taking it easy, come to the Market! Visit our flower vendors and pick out a stunning flower bouquet. Place a breakfast order with our food truck and pick up some sweet treats. Breakfast in bed? Or, stop by and pick out some yummy items to make your mom a surprise breakfast or brunch at home!
Here are a few breakfast/brunch recipes right here (recipes from Sprouts):
Crustless Asparagus, Spinach + Cheddar Quiche
Cinnamon Roll Stuffed French Toast with Strawberries
The Market opens at 9 am when the big red bell rings. This Saturday is going to be busy; and if you want your favorite things on this Mother’s Day Weekend you should come early!
Fresh local spring produce will be in abundance! Plus meats, cheeses, eggs, pastas, bread, honey, flowers, sauces and salsas, pies, donuts, sweet and savory buns, food truck, pet treats, skin products, and so much more! Saturday, May 18 – Jared Evans is back at the mic, creating a perfect market experience! Plus Kids Club and Main Street Books story time under the Pergola!
Saturday, May 25 – “Under the Tree” will be joining us! They specilize in Celtic traditional music and Old-Time American roots music. Its repertoire teems with jigs, reels, airs, polkas, slides, and fiddle tunes of all sorts that aim to stir one’s spirit to dance. Associated with the Farmers Market for the past 15 years or more, the group’s name reflects its origins playing “under the tree” at the north end of the market. Members include Mark Clemens (guitar), Bethli Miescher-Clemens (whistle, bodhran), Mike Ellis (guitar, mandolin), Kathleen Blackwell-Plank (fiddle, mandolin), and Karl Plank (fiddle).
What else can you expect at the Market? More and more late spring/early summer produce coming soon!

DFM History
It has been 16 years since a small group of Davidson citizens decided we needed a Farmers Market. I doubt even the most ardent fan of markets or the most optimistic could have imagined the Market we have today. With close to 40 vendors, an average of 1800 shoppers a week and strong community support we set a high standard for what a local, producer only market should look like. Saturday mornings are a cacophony of sights and sounds and smells and I delight in finding a few minutes to sit and take it all in. I love to watch the families introducing their children to fresh fruits and vegetables and piling carriages high with flowers or seeing a small hand reach up to touch a brightly colored pepper. I listen to vendors answering questions about how to best prepare okra or explaining about different types of mushrooms. Our vendors are passionate about their product because they produce it themselves and despite long lines and hot sun, they always seem pleased to be at the Market. It feels so good to see people listening to the music and placing tips in the can, and sometimes singing along. Maybe you are part of a group or a club or a team that would like to come out and help set up and enjoy the perks of fellowship and early bird shopping.
So come to shop or volunteer or both, and take some time to let all the special parts of the Market really sink in. It’s worth the time!
