Rest in Peace K9 Maky, a Very Good Dog
With great sadness, the Davidson Police Department shares the passing of Davidson Police K9 Maky on May 16, 2024.
Maky served as a dual-purpose narcotics and patrol dog, continually cared for by the generous and caring citizens of the Town of Davidson. After arriving from the Netherlands, K9 Maky began her service in September 2013.
During her career, she has worked with local, state, and federal agencies to sniff out illegal drugs, track felons, search for evidence, and provide dedicated protection to her fellow officers.
She was, no doubt, the citizens’ favorite police officer. Her friendly and social demeanor was shared with hundreds of adults and children during demonstrations and presentations she and her handler conducted.
K9 Maky served the Town for 5 ½ years before her medical retirement in 2019. Maky lived out her golden years with her handler’s family, chasing squirrels and being a beloved family member.
We thank her for her faithful service to the citizens of the Town of Davidson and her fellow officers.
