Town Celebrates Independence Day 2024

Don’t miss the Fourth of July stroll and bicycle parade – followed by a Concert on the Green.
Residents are invited to celebrate our nation’s independence with a patriotic stroll along South Street to the Town Green (5:30 p.m.) from the Davidson Town Hall and Community Center and a Concert on the Green on Thursday, July 4, 2024 (6:00 p.m.). The stroll will include a color guard, Davidson fire engine, and members of our community!
“This is a great way for our entire community to come together and show our Davidson spirit,” said Community and Economic Development Director Kim Fleming. “We hope to see neighbors from all over Town — from Davidson Pointe to Davidson Landing to Summers Walk — strolling from the Town Hall and Community Center to the Town Green for the concert,” said Fleming.
Event Schedule – Thursday, July 4, 2024
5:10 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. – Street Closures Cathey Street / South Street
5:15 p.m. – Line up at Davidson Town Hall & Community Center (251 South Street)
5:30 p.m. – Patriotic Stroll commences, led by Town of Davidson Color Guard
6:00 p.m. – Concert on the Green with Chunky Daddy – Variety Band (119 Main Street)
Town of Davidson Patriotic Stroll
To walk in the stroll, residents are asked to line up at the Davidson Town Hall and Community Center 251 South Street at 5:15 p.m. Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. All participants are encouraged to dress in festive attire and to decorate their wagons, bicycles, tricycles, and pets in red, white, and blue. A color guard comprised of members of the Davidson Police and Fire departments will lead the community up South Street onto Main Street to the Town Green.
*South Street (starting at Cathey Street) will be closed between 5:10 and 5:35 p.m. so that participants can safely line up in the road and on the sidewalks.
Concert on the Green
The Town’s traditional concert series, Concerts on the Green will take place on Thursday, July 4 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on the Town Green. Musical talent, Chunky Daddy a variety band will perform on the steps of the Davidson Public Library at 6:00 p.m. upon the conclusion of the Town’s Patriotic Stroll.
There are no fireworks in Davidson. The Davidson Police Department reminds residents to remember their own safety and that of their neighbors — per the North Carolina General Statute, fireworks are strictly prohibited for personal use.
