Watercraft Rentals

July 6 @ 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Lake Davidson Nature Preserve – 750 Jetton Street

Come enjoy Lake Davidson on the watercraft of your choice: single or double kayak, paddle board or canoe! Meet our staff to rent your watercraft at the Nature Preserve behind Davidson Day School on Jetton Street and have fun on a self-guided paddling adventure. Watercrafts will be available on Saturdays from 2- 5 p.m. beginning mid-April. Register to reserve your watercraft of choice. Please arrive between 2 and 2:30 pm and boats must be ported by 5p.m.

Jetton Street near Clean Juice

An acoustic artist will perform from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. with the headline artists (below) playing from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The entire block of Jetton Street will be closed from 12:00 p.m. (noon) – 10:00 p.m.

Davidson Branch Library: Baby Storytime

This program will be provided by Davidson library staff. Please check in with library staff beginning at 9:00 am on the day of the Storytime – the first 12 babies and their caregivers are able to attend. Babies experience brain stimulation through language and socialization. Engage your little one with new sights and sounds through books, songs, and rhymes.

Davidson Branch Library: French Conversation Club – Intermediate and Advanced

July 9 @ 6:30 – 7:45 pm.

This class is intended for people who already have a background in French language, at an intermediate or advanced level. Practice your French speaking and listening skills in a relaxed group environment. No lectures, just conversation! We will talk about various topics, including art, civilization, culture, sports, sociology, nature, and talk about the many aspects of daily life in France and other French-speaking countries. It will be a time of sharing ideas, dreams, past experiences, and much more. There will usually be a light preparation at home such as reading a short newspaper or magazine article, watching a you-tube video, etc. as a starting point for our discussion. We will also have plenty of time for informal and spontaneous conversation. Requirements: 16 years old or older, French fluency at an intermediate or advanced level.

Davidson Branch Library: Qigong for Lowering Stress and Overall Wellbeing

Qigong is a 5000 year old practice of meditative movement that has been passed down by generations of Chinese Masters. Qi = Life Force Energy & Gong = Cultivating or working with it. Learn to feel and move your energy so that you become more balanced, at peace, and happy. The power of Qigong can be felt in the movement, the meditation, and the sound (chanting). It can heal you at all levels and provide you with tools to improve every aspect of your life. It boosts your immune system and improves many aspects of your physical and emotional health. This is truly a practice for the Body, Mind, and Soul. The workshop includes: An introduction to how Qigong works, a Qigong Session -Meditation in Movement, and a sitting or lying down meditation. No experience necessary. All are welcome.  Bring a mat (optional) and a smile!

What sound does an alligator make? Well, these alligators are going to make some fun, snappy sounds! Join us for a fun crafting hour filled with music and decorating an alligator castanet! This program will be provided by Davidson library staff, and is recommended for preteens ages 9 to 12.

Come drop in to play Mario Kart and Mario Party Superstars with the Library’s Nintendo Switch console! Grab your friends and come play video games, and have some fun while developing literacy, critical thinking and teamwork skills. This is a drop-in program where you’re welcome to play and hang out with your peers. Please note that all players are expected to follow the Gaming Etiquette Guidelines. what we’re currently reading, give and ask for recommendations, and share our love of manga! We play games, watch anime, make crafts, and hang out. Join us every last Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in the community room. Looking for some manga to read?
