In Memoriam: Elaine Gallimore Borders
January 2, 1937 – June 26, 2024
Elaine Gallimore Borders, 87, of Davidson, went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2024, after a short illness with acute leukemia. She was born on January 2, 1937, to Stokes and Doris Jones Gallimore in High Point, NC. She graduated from Jamestown High School and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
While at Chapel Hill, she met the love of her life, Elzie Borders, in a religion class they shared. Excited to start their lives together, they were married on September 27, 1958 and together they enjoyed a wonderful, Christ-centered marriage that was a blessing to many. She will always be remembered for her service in the church, supporting new and expectant mothers, her love of the outdoors, birds and the cultivation of world class roses. Many of those close to her enjoyed the gift of a wonderful bouquet or sat at her home with a lovely rose arrangement nearby.
Elaine also enjoyed playing golf and traveling extensively with Elzie, friends and family. Her parents, Stokes and Doris Gallimore of High Point, NC, and her much loved son David of Columbia, SC preceded Elaine in death. She is survived by her husband Elzie Borders of 66 years of Davidson NC, son Paul Borders and wife Katherine of Mt Pleasant, SC, daughter Laura Borders Owen and husband Mike of Huntersville NC, daughter-in-law Jennie Ginis Borders of Columbia SC, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild, sister Helen Gallimore Ray and husband Graham of Greensboro NC, plus many family members all of whom she loved deeply.
There will be a celebration of her life on Sunday, July 7 at 3:00 p.m. at The Pines at Davidson at 400 Avinger Lane in Davidson, NC and a reception will follow.
Memorials in her name may be made to: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
