Whatever your listening circumstance, we’ve got the perfect summer challenge for you. This week kicked off the start of the Libro.fm Audiobook Champion Challenge—your chance to earn FREE audiobooks. You might have caught our note last week nodding to the challenge.
As a reminder, if you already have a Libro.fm account, you can join the Audiobook Listening Olympics this week to earn a free audiobook through Friday, July 26th (Opening Day of the Summer Olympics!). Or sign up with a new Libro.fm account now for 2 free audiobooks when you use the code PRIMETIME at registration.
Our booksellers are big fans of audio, so in honor of the event we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite audiobooks.
Adah’s current audiobook recommendation is Kiese Laymon’s 2013 fiction debut, Long Division. The historical fiction novel is a new release on Libro.fm. The book hops through time as the main character, City Coldson, seeks to solve the mysterious disappearance of a young girl in his grandmother’s small coastal town. All the while, he is becoming obsessed with a book he found at school that has no author, but centers on a kid named City. This is a truly mind-blowing piece of literature.
Another bookstore favorite is Broken Horses by Brandi Carlile. “The self-narrated memoir is punctuated with beautiful, pared down, home-studio versions of her songs,” shared our bookseller Amanda.
Last, Jessica recommends Funny Storyby Emily Henry. This is an easy favorite among fans of the narrator Julia Whelan.
Whelan is the voice behind dozens of popular audiobooks, including Educated by Tara Westover, The Women by Kristin Hannah, and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It’s easy to search for audiobook narrators on Libro.fm!
