Ukrainian Independence Day Celebration
A Note from Amanda Ewington
Like many of you, as we head into fall, I’m reflecting on summer travels, especially my trip to Helsinki and Tallinn where support for Ukraine was very much on display. Sharing a border with Russia, and having experienced Russian aggression and occupation, the people of Finland and Estonia remain clear-eyed about the stakes of the war not just for Ukraine but for the whole world.
Thank you all for also remaining clear-eyed in your support for Ukraine’s freedom two and a half years into the full-scale war. You have not succumbed to so-called “Ukraine fatigue.” You have not turned away.
This Saturday, Ukraine celebrates its Independence Day and UCCA Charlotte will host a gathering open to the public. Please see the information about this event below.
Davidson College will also host several talks related to Ukraine for this fall, which are listed below. We hope you can join us.
Sergiy Mysyk, UCCA Charlotte Director, shares the following:
Immerse yourself in the spirit of Ukraine as we mark Ukrainian Independence Day and celebrate the resilience of its people.
The afternoon will include Ukrainian food (available for purchase), musical performances, and kids’ activities. Together we will also fundraise for urgently needed medical equipment, including a medical evacuation vehicle, for Ukraine.
The event will be held inside the Gibson Mill building, in the Kettle Room. The Gibson Mill is located across the main tap room of Cabarrus Brewing Company. Address: 325 McGill Ave NW, Concord, NC 28027
