Breazeale Joins Davidson Baseball Staff

by | Aug 29, 2024

Ben Breazeale is joining the Davidson baseball staff as an assistant coach, head coach Rucker Taylor announced this week.

Breazeale comes to Davidson after serving as an assistant at the University of Texas at Arlington the last two seasons.

“Ben is a wonderful addition to our program,” said Taylor. “His playing experiences at a high academic institution and as a professional will be a great resource for our group. He’s coached at some exceptional programs and will bring a lot to us in a variety of areas.”

Prior to coaching at UTA, Breazeale was an assistant coach at Baylor in 2022, and he served as a graduate assistant at Arkansas in 2021, when the Razorbacks won SEC regular season and tournament titles.

“Firstly, I want to thank Coach Taylor for the opportunity to join his talented staff and program,” said Breazeale. “I am excited for the opportunity to work with our student-athletes and help aid them in their development as young men and baseball players.”

As a player, Breazeale was a four-year starter at Wake Forest (2013-17), primarily at catcher. As a senior, he hit .333 with 16 doubles, 11 home runs and 51 RBIs and hit four home runs in six NCAA Tournament games. Also in 2017, he earned ACC First Team and ACC All-Academic honors, as well as First Team All-America honors from two outlets. Breazeale was a semifinalist for the Johnny Bench Award.

Drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the seventh round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft, he played pro ball until 2020. He was a minor league teammate of former Davidson standout Will Robertson, also an Orioles draftee.

Breazeale earned his Wake Forest degree in psychology in 2017, then a master’s in operations management from Arkansas in 2021.
