Berg Named A-10 Defensive Field Hockey Player of the Week
WASHINGTON — Davidson goalkeeper MaryKate Berg has been named Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Berg, from Aurora, Colo., made three saves in the Wildcats’ 1-0 win over Towson on Sunday. She also led the charge against six Towson penalty corners.
“MK has been so strong in cage for us right through preseason and into opening weekend,” said Davidson coach Zoe Almquist. “Even though it was her first official collegiate game, she played with poise and confidence beyond her years. She made some really dynamic saves at clutch moments to preserve her shutout and our team’s win. I’m so proud of her!”
Berg and the Wildcats return to action Friday, Sept. 6 when they visit Longwood.
