Field Hockey Rolls Past Queens
CHARLOTTE — Sib Naaktgeboren scored two goals to lead the Davidson field hockey team to a 4-1 win at Queens Sunday afternoon.
With the victory, the Wildcats improved to 2-1, while Queens fell to 0-4.
“Today we played with a lot of composure and consistency, and I think it was a good step forward for our team,” said Davidson coach Zoe Almquist.
Davidson struck first on a penalty corner in the first quarter, with Macy Curtis finishing after a Celie Constantine insertion and Hannah Merritt’s stick-stop.
After taking that 1-0 lead into the halftime break, the Wildcats quickly added another score in the third quarter when Constantine scored off a Curtis assist. Four minutes later, Naaktgeboren made it 3-0 with a goal off a Matilda Collins assist.
Naaktgeboren’s second goal, an unassisted score, came with 10:37 to play in the fourth.
The Wildcats finished with commanding advantages in shots (16-2) and penalty corners (16-1). Davidson back Bella Worthington had a defensive save on the Royals’ corner attempt.
