Annual Town Street Resurfacing Expected to Begin this Week

by | Sep 16, 2024

This map highlights the projected work in the St. Albans and McConnell Neighborhoods.

The Town recently published a press release regarding the annual road resurfacing work. The News of Davidson team took the information in that release, which is published in full at the bottom of this article, and combined it with more detailed information that was available on the Town website.

The work can be binned into three categories: 1) crack and seal, 2) pavement repair / patching, and 3) milling and paving. The crack and seal work is the least complex, and the milling and paving the most complex.

Additionally, we took the map that was provided and transferred the information to several screenshots of Google maps to show a more detailed overview of where the work will take place. The crack and seal work is identified with yellow lines, the pavement repair with blue lines, and the milling and paving with red lines.

Most importantly, as the Town’s press release highlights, NO road closures are expected with the work. The contractor will close lanes as needed, but not full road closures. The work was scheduled to begin on September 16 and end on October 31. However, paving work is influenced by both rain and temperatures.

The plan focuses on paving in tight geographic areas to be the most cost effective and will generally move west to east over the five years.
