Volleyball Begins A-10 Campaign at Loyola Chicago
DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson volleyball program kicks off its 2024 Atlantic 10 slate with a series in the Windy City beginning on Friday, Sept. 27 at Loyola Chicago.
The ‘Cats and Ramblers will square off on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET, followed by a 3 p.m. ET match up on Saturday, Sept. 28.
NON-CONFERENCE RECAP… The Wildcats enter A-10 action at 4-7 overall, picking up victories over Elon, Marshall, Queens and William & Mary. Davidson has battled through four five-set matches in the early season, defeating Queens in a 3-2 match on the Royals’ home court, while falling to Florida International, USC Upstate and Wake Forest in five.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE… Isabel Decker leads the ‘Cats with 147 total kills so far this season. The senior outside hitter has recorded an impressive eight double-doubles on the year, including a current run of six-straight. Among the attackers, Emma Slusser (127 kills) and Anna Withee (94 kills) also pace the Wildcats’ offense.
BE OUR GUEST…Xuan Nguyen and Kinsey Smith operate Davidson’s front line, averaging a combined 11.25 assists per set. As a team, the Wildcats average 13.07 assists per set and 588 total assists, which ranks 24th and 18th, respectively, among NCAA Division I volleyball.
BACK LINE PROTECTION… Libero Jordan Hummel has collected 181 digs this season, while averaging 4.02 digs per set. The junior has also served 19 aces, good for top-3 in the Atlantic 10 and 66th-best in the nation.
A LOOK AHEAD… The Wildcats will return home on October 4 and 5 for their first home matches since Saturday, Aug. 31. Davidson will welcome George Mason to Belk Arena, in a stretch that will also serve as Alumni Weekend for the ‘Cats.
