Summit Coffee’s Asheville Store Destroyed By Helene

by | Oct 2, 2024

It’s with the heaviest of hearts we share that Summit’s cafe in Asheville’s River Arts District (RAD) is gone.

The devastation of this week’s flooding in Western North Carolina was so much worse than our worst imagination. Our cafe, which has served the RAD community since 2017, is just one of hundreds of businesses, thousands of homes, that was destroyed by Hurricane Helene. We are suffering a deep level of sadness over losing this cafe, and also for all of WNC and the people whose lives have been turned upside down.

While we grieve and process, we also need to act. Please help us continue to support the RAD baristas as long as we can. When the flooding subsides, there won’t be a cafe to go back to. This week, we’re going to give 100% of proceeds from any and all online coffee orders to a fund for that team. Head to the website, buy a bag or three, buy some for your friends, and we’ll get the orders to you as quickly as we can and send the money to Asheville.

There’s a lot more to be said in the coming days and weeks about what losing the RAD cafe means to Summit. But for now, let’s channel our sadness into action and help the Asheville community.
