Women’s Basketball Defeats Wingate in Exhibition Play
DAVIDSON – The Davidson women’s basketball team defeated Wingate 68-44 inside Belk Arena in its final preseason tuneup.
The Wildcats used a 58.8 percent field goal percentage in the first quarter to take a 12-point lead before extending its advantage to as many as 20 (40-20) with 3:06 remaining in the second quarter.
Davidson went on to use its biggest run of the game, scoring nine uncontested points, to finish the third leading 55-31. The ‘Cats claimed their largest lead over the Bulldogs in the fourth (26 points) en route to a 68-44 win
The Wildcats rounded out the exhibition shooting 51.8 percent from the floor while holding Wingate to just a 30.5 percent shooting performance. Additionally, the ‘Cats dominated on the glass, out-rebounding the Bulldogs 45-25.
Davidson will open its 2024-25 campaign when it welcomes Florida Gulf Coast University to Belk Arena 7 p.m. Nov. 5.
