DavidsonLearns Event: In Conversation with Lindsay Kesselman & Allison Gagnon
Please join us for a conversation with soprano Lindsay Kesselman and pianist Allison Gagnon. They will preview their concert program, which will offer a variety of music — sacred and secular, historic and present-day, art song and musical theater. The centerpiece of the concert will be the world premiere of Prairie Epitaphs, composed by Lindsay’s father, Chicago-based composer Lee Kesselman. Lee will join Lindsay and Allison to introduce us to Prairie Epitaphs, a song cycle inspired by Edgar Lee Masters’ Spoon River Anthology.

About the Performers
Lindsay Kesselman is a twice GRAMMY-nominated soprano known for her warm, collaborative spirit and investment in personal, intimate communication with audiences. She regularly collaborates with orchestras, wind symphonies, chamber ensembles, opera/theater companies, and new music ensembles across the United States, often premiering, touring and recording new works written for her by living composers. Lindsay serves as Assistant Professor of Voice and Choral Music at UNC Greensboro and holds degrees in voice performance and music education from Rice University and Michigan State University.
Allison Gagnon directs the Collaborative Piano Program at the UNC School of the Arts and concertizes with both vocal and instrumental colleagues in a range of settings including recitals, chamber groups, and ensembles. She frequently premieres new music and collaborates on works that combine music with other disciplines. Before joining UNCSA in 1998, Allison was affiliated with both Queen’s University and McGill University in Canada. She was a member of the piano staff at the Meadowmount School of Music in New York for almost 20 years and has spent summers at the Banff Centre in Canada and the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara.
