Celebrate the Holidays at Christmas in Davidson

December 5 – 7, 2024 | 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Nightly

DAVIDSON, NC – Christmas in Davidson, one of the Town of Davidson’s signature events, will return this year on Thursday, December 5; Friday, December 6; and Saturday, December 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. nightly. The official opening ceremonies will be on Thursday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m. with Santa Claus’ arrival and the annual tree lighting ceremony on the Town Green. Guests can expect to enjoy a Holiday light show, roving entertainment, live nativity scenes, bubble snowflakes, unique gifts from the artisan village, a children’s craft area, and more! 

Town of Davidson Road Closures (5:00 p.m. until approximately 10:00 p.m. from Thursday, December 5 – Saturday, December 7 nightly) 

Main Street from Concord Road to Jackson Street will be closed to traffic and blocked off to allow the community to leisurely stroll throughout Town, enjoying the festivities, while making stops at local specialty shops, and enjoying a wide variety of food from Davidson’s restaurants.  

Accessible Parking will be available in the Davidson Public Library parking lot along Lorimer Road with an attendant present to allow drivers access. 

Trolley Information 

We are pleased to announce that free trolley services will be available to guests again this year. The Town will operate three different trolley routes this year. 

East Trolley

River Run Soccer Fields 

Concord Rd. & Kimberly Rd. 

Concord Rd. & St. Alban’s Ln. 

Concord Rd. & Baker Dr.

Concord Rd. & Lorimer Rd.

West Trolley

Homewood Suites

Jetton & Peninsula Dr.

Davidson Pointe Parking Lot (Sweet Magnolia Ct.) 

Main St. & Griffith St. 

All trolleys begin to pick up at the farthest point away from Downtown Davidson (River Run Soccer Field, Homewood Suites, and Davidson Pointe parking lot) starting at 5:30 p.m. nightly. The trolleys run on a continuous loop with each loop taking approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. Trolleys will continue to run all night with the last passenger pick-up in Downtown Davidson at 9:30 p.m. All routes and trolley stops can be found online at www.townofdavidson.org/christmasindavidson 

 

The Doggie Fashion Show will take place on Friday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. on the Town Green’s main stage in front of the Davidson Public Library at 119 South Main St. There is no cost associated with this event. Davidson residents who would like their canines to take part in the Doggie Fashion Show must register online by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2024.

The 42nd Annual North Mecklenburg Holiday Parade  

The 42nd Annual North Mecklenburg Holiday Parade will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. The parade route is approximately two (2) miles long and follows Main Street (Hwy. 115) from the Town of Davidson ending at the intersection of North Main Street and Catawba Ave in the Town of Cornelius. Additional parade information can be found on the event’s webpage.

Merry Main Street Trike Race 

After the parade on Saturday, December 7, the Merry Main Street Tricycle Race will take place on Main Street in front of the Town Green. This annual event includes four-person trike teams sponsored by Davidson businesses that race through an obstacle course for all to enjoy. Please note, that Main Street will remain closed after the parade until the conclusion of Christmas in Davidson at approximately 10:00 p.m.

Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest will take place on Saturday, December 7, at 7:00 p.m. on the Town Green’s main stage in front of the Davidson Public Library located at 119 South Main St. There is no cost, and no registration is necessary to participate in the Ugly Holiday Sweater contest– simply show up in your festive sweater!
