Women’s Basketball Leads Wire-To-Wire in Victory Over Presbyterian

DAVIDSON – The Davidson women’s basketball team remains undefeated inside John M. Belk Arena with a wire-to-wire 81-39 victory over Presbyterian Sunday night.

The win pulls the Wildcats record to an even 3-3 on the year while the Bluehose move to 0-6 for the season.

Three players ended the competition in double figures for the ‘Cats in Candice Lienafa (13) Mallorie Haines (12) and Emilie Bessell (11). Lienafa earned her third start of the year and third game in double-digit scoring after coming off of her first A-10 Rookie of the Week accolades. Fellow freshmen Bessell, tallied a career-high night over 18 minutes of action. Additionally, Haines brought in a game-high six rebounds.

In a stellar defensive effort, Davidson tallied a season-best 11 steals to force Presbyterian into a season-high 28 turnovers over the win.

The Wildcats held the Bluehose to just six first quarter points before jumping out to a 38-17 advantage at the halftime break. The ‘Cats went on to score a quarter-high 28 points in the third to all but run away with the contest to an 81-39 victory.

Terese Mbemba led Presbyterian with a game-high 16 points to go with five rebounds.

For the game, the Wildcats shot .429 from the field, .333 from 3-point range out rebounded the Bluehose 36-31.
