42nd Annual North Mecklenburg Holiday Parade Road Closures & Participant Details

The 42nd annual North Mecklenburg Holiday Parade will take place on Saturday, December 7, at 1: 00 p.m. The parade route is approximately two (2) miles long and follows Main Street (Hwy. 115) from the Town of Davidson ending at the intersection of North Main Street and Catawba Ave in the Town of Cornelius. The parade will go on, rain or shine. In case of severe weather conditions, please go to the Town of Davidson’s Facebook page or call the weather hotline at 704-940-9637 for information. This line will be updated at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7.

Following the conclusion of the North Mecklenburg Holiday Parade, the Town of Davidson will host its third annual Merry Main Street Trike Race at approximately 3:00 p.m. All are welcome to watch four-person trike teams sponsored by Davidson businesses race through an obstacle course down Main Street across from the Town Green.
Please be mindful of street closings beginning at 10:00 a.m. due to parade staging, route accommodation, and the trike race on Saturday morning and will re-open on Saturday, December 7 at approximately 3:30 p.m. However, North Main Street from Concord Road to Jackson Street will remain closed following the parade through the conclusion of Christmas in Davidson, re-opening at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday evening.
Road Closures in the Town of Davidson on Saturday, December 7, 2024:
- North Main Street from Concord Road to Jackson Street will be closed from 12:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
- Griffith Street (from Beaty St. to North Main St.) will be closedfrom 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please look for detour signs to connecting roads to Hwy 115.
- Main Street (Hwy 115), from Beaty St. in Davidson to Washam-Potts Road in Cornelius will be closed from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Jackson Street will be closed from. from Depot Street to N. Main Street from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Watson Street will be closed from Depot Street to Delburg Street from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Road Closures in the Town of Cornelius on Saturday, December 7, 2024: Catawba Avenue will be shut down prior to Hwy. 115 (Intersection of Main Street), and tractor trailers will not be allowed east of Hwy. 21 on Catawba Avenue.

Information for Participants:
Line-up takes place on Saturday, December 7 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Any vehicle that arrives before 10:00 a.m. must have the driver on site. All parade participants must be in their assigned position no later than 12:00 p.m. All streets will be closed no later than 12:30 p.m., with some streets in the staging area closed earlier. Staff will be on-hand to help you in finding your assigned spot.
