Rawlins, Adams, Sheron and McDaniel Earn First-Team Honors
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Along with Julian Rawlins, Mari Adams, Mason Sheron and Malik McDaniel earning 2024 All-Pioneer Football First-Team honors, Davidson placed two on the Second Team, while five others earned honorable mention recognition, as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.
Kyler Herring and TJ Magee represented the Wildcats on the Second Team.
For Rawlins, it’s the third time he has earned all-league honors as the senior was also named First Team in 2023 and honorable mention as a sophomore. A finalist for the 2024 FedEx Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete of the Year and member of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, Rawlins concludes his standout career ranked among Davidson’s all-time leaders in sacks and tackles for loss.
Both Adams and McDaniel were Second-Team selections a year ago.
Adams finished his junior campaign leading the conference in every major rushing statistical category, while ranking among FCS national leaders in rushing yards (1,137 / 10th), rushing yards per game (113.7 / 5th), yards per carry (6.85 / 6th) and rushing touchdowns (14 / 6th). In addition to a league-best seven games with at least 100 yards on the ground, Adams is just the fourth player in program history with multiple 1,000-yard seasons.
McDaniel and Herring anchored an offensive line that helped Davidson lead the nation in rushing for a fifth consecutive season.
Sheron, Adams’ backfield mate, turned in his best season in a Wildcat uniform, ranking among PFL running backs in yards (813/3rd), yards per carry (5.6/8th), touchdowns (10/3rd) and yards per game (81.3/3rd). A native of Leo, Ind., Sheron had three games with at least 100 yards on the ground, highlighted by a career-best 152 yards to go with a pair of touchdowns at Dayton.
This is the first all-conference nod for Magee, who led the PFL in pass breakups with 10. The junior defensive back also finished third on the team in tackles and had a school-record 98-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Wildcats’ win over Presbyterian.
Darryn Kindles (DL), Dixon Hudson (DL), John Tessmann (LB), Brody Reina (WR) and Andrew Frazier (AP) were selected honorable mention.
The PFL’s All-Academic Teams will be released Wednesday afternoon.
