MUNCIE, Ind. – Behind a 23-of-26 effort at the free throw line and game-high 20 points from Ally Becki, Ball State defeated Davidson, 80-61, in non-conference women’s basketball action Thursday morning inside Worthen Arena.

The Wildcats fall to 3-6 overall, while the Cardinals improve to 6-3.

Katie Donovan led three ‘Cats in double figures with a career-high 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Charlise Dunn and Candice Lienafa added 10 points each.

Despite both teams struggling from the floor offensively in the opening 10 minutes, Ball State scored the last eight points of the quarter to lead 17-8 after one.

The Cardinals carried their momentum into the second where they reeled off nine straight to start making it a 17-0 streak across both quarters to stretch the margin to 26-8.

A Lienafa triple got the ‘Cats within 45-34 midway through the third quarter, but Ball State answered eventually pushing its advantage to 21.

Davidson, which shot a game-best 57.1 percent after the third frame, finished the game at 47.1 percent, including 8-of-20 from long range.

Lachelle Austin (18), Madelyn Bischoff (14) and Marie Kiefer (10) also hit the 10-point plateau for the Cardinals, who connected on 11-of-27 from behind the 3-point line.
