Limping Toward a Manger (a poem of hope) by Jody Seymour

by | Dec 19, 2024 | Arts & Entertainment, News, The Written Word

Limping toward a manger
whose presence seems
far away…
Doubts and trials may weigh
you down along with
the burden of
unanswered questions

Then a whisper reaches down
to your weary soul,
“Be reminded of
mysterious grace”
It came in a
surprising moment
in time when
the world was too dark
and the night was too silent

Then two weary pilgrims
also needed
mysterious grace…
Joseph was filled with
leftover doubt about
being an adopted father
Mary was full of life
but empty of
answers as to why
they too limped
toward a manger

What kind of deliverance
could come from
“no room”
for needed love
How could the lonely
of heart
be healed by
what seemed to be
the absence of
those who even cared?

But to you, who now
limp toward a manger-
know that he again
waits for you
His arms reach up
from his crude cradle
of mysterious grace
and his eyes of divine
love look into
your pain and
your doubt

He is the child whose
birth comes into
the silent night of
questions unanswered
and his star still
shines into
your darkness

You are not alone
Though sometimes
you feel so…
He comes again for you
…and your limp
He is the child
of mysterious grace
