DAVIDSON, N.C. – Reed Bailey scored 22 points, and Davidson started the second half on a 20-6 run to rally past Duquesne 77-71 in Atlantic 10 men’s basketball action Saturday afternoon in John M. Belk Arena.

The Wildcats remained unbeaten on Bob McKillop Court while improving to 11-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.

To go along with his sixth 20-point effort of 2024-25, Bailey went 7-of-12 from the floor, 8-of-10 at the charity stripe and grabbed eight rebounds.

Zach Laput added a season-high 17 points for the ‘Cats, while Bobby Durkin finished with 13.

Trailing 44-41 early in the second half, Davidson grabbed control with 13 unanswered points, capped by a Bailey floater, to go in front for good. In addition to their game-changing stretch, the Wildcats, who shot 60 percent in the final 20 minutes, started the period 8-of-10 from the floor.

Davidson’s defense was just as impressive in the second half, holding the Dukes to just 39.4 percent.

The ‘Cats, who had 17 assists on 26 made field goals, pushed the lead to as many as 11 on back-to-back triples from Roberts Blums and again on a Joe Hurlburt two-handed dunk.

Duquesne (6-9, 1-1 A-10), which led 38-34 at the half, used a 17-2 run to go up 27-15 midway through the first. The Wildcats responded with four straight 3-point scores and eventually made it a one-point game again before the Dukes closed the half with a small spurt.

Despite the setback, Jahsean Corbett was the lone Duke in double figures with a game-high 29 points on 12-of-20 shooting.
