DAVIDSON, N.C. – Issy Morgan scored a game-high 19 points as Davidson ran its winning streak to six straight with a 65-55 victory over Rhode Island Wednesday evening inside John M. Belk Arena.

Off to their best start in A-10 play since the 2019-20 campaign, the Wildcats improve to 9-7 overall and 4-0 in the conference.

Kyra Bruyndoncx joined Morgan double figures with 10 points for the ‘Cats, who torched the nets from long range for the second time in as many games going 8-for-16.

Along with nine points, including a pair of treys from Candice Lienafa in the opening 10 minutes, Davidson closed the quarter with five straight to lead 16-8.

The ‘Cats carried their momentum into the second quarter, pushing the margin to 16 before going to the break up, 34-21. They were just as impressive at the defensive end limiting the Rams to just seven field goals and 25.9 percent in the first half.

After Davidson built its lead to as many as 18, 41-23, early in the third quarter on a Morgan jumper, Rhody slowly chipped away at the deficit making it six-point game, 59-53, on an Ines Debroise 3-pointer with 2:13 to play. The Wildcats would answer with a Katie Donovan triple the next trip, all but putting the game out of reach.

Davidson shot 52.2 percent overall, while holding the Rams to just 34.4 percent and 3-of-24 from long range.

Debroise was one of four Rhode Island (7-9, 2-1 A-10) players to crack the 10-point plateau with 13. Hawa Komara had a double-double for the Rams with 11 and 11.
