Tanner Peake

DAVIDSON, NC – For the first time in over two years, the Davidson Wrestling team has a Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week.

Junior captain Tanner Peake earned the honor on Wednesday as announced by the league after he went a perfect 5-0 and won the Newberry Open.

This past Sunday, the Flemington, N.J., native returned for the first time since Jan. 4 and won all five of his matches with four Division I wins. Along the way, he picked up two tech fall victories and a major decision in the finals over The Citadel’s Hayden Watson.

Ranked No. 23 in FloWrestling’s 157-pound rankings, Peake is now 16-4 on the year, a perfect 6-0 in dual action, and is ranked No. 26 in the NCAA Coaches’ Poll. The top 33 wrestlers in each weight class will qualify for the NCAA Championships in late March.

The last Wildcat to earn the honor was Kyle Gorant back on March 2, 2022.
