John Hall Hart: June 23, 1963 – February 28, 2025

John Hall Hart, 61, of Davidson, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 28, 2025.

He was born on June 23, 1963, in Mooresville, NC, to the late Harry Hall Hart and Mildred Lowrance Hart. He attended Mooresville Graded Schools and graduated from The McCallie School in Chattanooga, TN. He graduated from Wake Forest University with a bachelor’s degree in economics. After working on his masters degree, he proudly served as 1st Lieutenant, Field Artillery in the US Army. During his service, he was stationed at Fort Sill, Fort Campbell, and in South Korea. After completing his service, John obtained a land surveying degree from Central Piedmont Community College. In 2000, he decided to pursue a dream and, over a 6-month period, hiked the Appalachian Trail from Katahdin in Maine to Springer Mountain in Georgia.

At the time of his death, John was employed with Piedmont Design Associates in Mooresville, NC. He was a member of Davidson United Methodist Church.

John was an unassuming and principled man. Foremost, he loved God, his family (including his fourlegged buddies) and his country. He was passionate about being outdoors and easily absorbed by nature. He was a pro at naming trees and birds. He was an avid World War II history reader as evidenced by shelves and cabinets full of carefully organized hard-covered volumes. As family members and close friends can attest, he was very passionate about high school and college sports. Especially during football and basketball seasons, John would morph from a quiet and reserved man into a very vocal and spirited “coach,” “referee,” and fan. His sons will always remember his all too frequent exclamation of “Aw, come on ref!” Lastly, John’s family and close friends will remember his great love of deviled eggs, chocolate and Cheerwine.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Frances “Fran” Barber Hart; sons, Tanner Hall Hart and Bennett Thomas Hart; sisters, Harriet Hart Barger and husband, Robert “Rick” Calvin Barger, Betty Miller Hart; brother, Stephen Douglas Hart and wife, Karen McLean Hart; numerous nieces and nephews; and his furry four-legged buddies, Oscar and Izzy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 8 at Prospect Presbyterian Church with Rev. Will Gipe and Rev. Dr. Rick Barger officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the family life center.
