We are pleased to invite you to a screening and discussion of the Oscar and BAFTA-nominated Swedish film “My Life as a Dog” on Saturday, June 28, at 7:00 pm in the Armour Street Theatre in Davidson.

Discussion of the film will be led by Preston Toney, member of the Davidson Film Club Board and inveterate cinephile.

Film Summary:

Featuring an incredibly mature and unaffected performance by the young Anton Glanzelius, Lasse Hallström’s beloved and bittersweet evocation of the struggles and joys of childhood tells the story of Ingemar, a twelve-year-old from a working-class family sent to live with his uncle in a country village when his mother falls ill. There, with the help of the warmhearted eccentrics who populate the town, the boy finds both refuge from his misfortunes and unexpected adventure.

Nominated for 2 Oscars (Best Director and Best Screenplay) and a BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Winner of the Golden Globes award for Best Foreign Language Film and 8 other prizes for Best Foreign Language Film. 15 wins and 5 nominations in all.
