Town Accepting Nominations for the Jack Burney Community Service Award

The Town of Davidson is accepting nominations for the G. Jackson Burney Community Service Award, through Tuesday, September 30, 2025. This special award honors both Jack Burney and those who improve the Davidson community through unselfish service over a lifetime.
Jack Burney was a true friend of Davidson. He led a life dedicated to improving the quality of life for all those around him, and that was especially true in his dealings with the town. In his professional life, Burney helped to create the Charlotte Census tracts for the U.S. Department of Commerce, and he managed the Charlotte Chamber Economic Development program for ten years. Jack provided support for town initiatives by volunteering his organizational, critical analysis, and leadership skills.
Nomination forms are available online at www.townofdavidson.org/burneynomination and by visiting Davidson Town Hall and Community Center located at 251 South Street.
Submissions must be received either online or delivered by hand to the Davidson Town Hall & Community Center no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, to be considered. For questions or additional information, please contact Town Clerk Betsy Shores at (704)940-9614.
