Mark Your Calendars: News of Davidson Candidate Forum – September 29

The News of Davidson will be hosting a Candidate Forum on Monday, September 29, at 7:00 p.m. The event will be held in the community room at the Davidson Town Hall and Community Center. The community room can be easily accessed from the back of the building and is ADA accessible. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m.
We have confirmed participation from the mayoral candidate and five of the six candidates running for Town Board.
Daniel Heath, Director of the Davidson Forum at Davidson College, will serve as the moderator for the forum.
The format of the event includes opening statements from each candidate and several rounds of questions from the moderator. Attendees will be offered cards to write down topics or specific questions and hand them to the moderator or his assistant.
Candidates will be given three minutes for their opening remarks and two minutes to respond to questions. Following several initial questions from the moderator, the questions will shift to those provided by the audience via the cards. (There will not be an open microphone for questions from the audience.)
When the question-and-answer period concludes, the moderator will offer the candidates two minutes to provide a closing statement.
While the formal portion of the forum will wrap up at 8:30 p.m., it will be followed by a 30-minute informal meet and greet session with the candidates. Light refreshments will be served.
The evening, which will conclude at 9:00 p.m., will be livestreamed and filmed with the intent of reaching as many Davidson voters as possible. We also encourage voters to read about each of the candidates in the material previously published in News of Davidson.
