Children in K-5th grade are invited to drop in to the library on Wednesdays from 4pm-6pm for Homework Help! Trained Homework Help volunteers provide a welcoming and supportive environment where young learners can:

  • Get help completing assignments
  • Practice important foundational math and reading skills (such as math facts or reading)
  • Explore and get connected to important Library resources, including Tutor.com, a free professional tutoring service that provides 15 free tutoring sessions in any subject each week with a Library card or ONE Access account

Whether your child needs a little extra support, or a focused one-on-one support session, Homework Help is a great way to build confidence and stay on track. Let us partner with you in your child’s learning journey! Note: While our homework help program is intended for student support, it is not a tutoring service. Volunteers provide help and guidance to the best of their ability, but are not certified teachers. Volunteers do not complete assignments for students. Students are called to work 1 on 1 with a trained volunteer for a 20 minute block after completing a short intake form to share your learning support needs.

Davidson Branch Library

Been reading any manga or watching any anime lately? Come share with us what you're reading and watching! We're not a regular book club. We're an "UnBook Club!" What's an Unbook Club, you ask? We don't all agree to read the same things. (After all, some like shojo more than shonen, or like the mecha genre more than the magical girls type. Some might even like both!) Here we all take turns sharing what we're currently reading, give and ask for recommendations, and share our love of manga! We play games, watch anime, make crafts, and hang out. Join us every last Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in the community room. Looking for some manga to read? Check out our catalog and place a hold, or come explore our graphic novel section in the branch. Find a link to our catalog by clicking here.
