Sustainability Summit in Davidson

by Press Release | Sep 18, 2025

Come join the Davidson College Presbyterian Church ( DCPC) Green Group along with Davidson United Methodist Church (DUMC) Creation Care Ministries for the first ever Davidson Sustainability Summit on Wednesday, October 1, in the DCPC Congregation House at 7:00 p.m. We have assembled an impressive panel of speakers who will share some of the latest developments on environmental actions that will impact our local community here and beyond.

* Did you know Davidson College’s path to a zero carbon future winds through western Kentucky and includes eight colleges and universities from N.C. to Pennsylvania?

* Did you know this past summer representatives from the Town of Davidson partnered with data scientists at NASA to use the latest satellite technologies and other methods to study air quality and the effect of extreme heat on our community?

* Did you know about a local effort to restore wildlife habitat at Fisher Farm through a unique collaboration with Davidson Lands Conservancy, Davidson College, Mecklenburg County, and the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission?

These are just some of the topics that will be discussed at the Summit, so bring your questions for our expert panel and learn about how, by working together, we can build a more sustainable future for all.

Here’s a list of our Panelists:

Yancey Fouché – Director of Sustainability at Davidson College

Kayla Kovach – Sustainability Manager, Town of Davidson

Beth Wytiaz – Executive Director of Davidson Lands Conservancy

The Davidson community is a leader in the region on taking steps to make a difference in the life of our citizens and all God’s creatures.  We hope you’ll join us for this informative and thought provoking discussion about sustainability in Davidson.

We will be meeting in the DCPC Congregation House which is just across Concord Rd. from the church. Parking is available behind the building or along Concord Road.  The DCPC Green Group is also providing a sampling of homemade goodies and refreshments for attendees to enjoy. No signup is necessary.
