Town to Host Document Shred Event
DAVIDSON, NC - The Town of Davidson will host a document shredding event in the lower level of the Davidson Town Hall and Community Center, 251 South Street, on Thursday, October 2, Saturday, October 4, and Monday, October 6, 2025.
Although this event is called a “shred event,” please note that shredding will not take place on site. Instead, all collected documents will be securely transported and shredded off-site by our trusted partner, Iron Mountain.
Drop-off times
- Thursday, October 2 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
- Saturday, October 4 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
- Monday, October 6 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Secured bins provided by Iron Mountain will be located in the Lower Level Community Room, accessible in the rear of the Davidson Town Hall and Community Center parking lot. Look for the marked parking spaces.
The event is free and limited to two (2) bags or banker boxes per household. Shred documents containing Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as tax records, bank statements, medical information, credit card bills, pay stubs, and expired IDs, as well as junk mail with personal details. This includes any paper with a name, address, account number, Social Security number, phone number, email address, or signature to protect against identity theft.
Do not shred vital personal and legal documents, including birth certificates, social security cards, passports, wills, marriage and divorce decrees, and citizenship papers, as these are often needed for permanent reference and should be stored securely. Also, do not shred documents until their required retention period has passed, such as tax returns (typically 3–7 years), and keep any document related to ongoing matters or large purchases until that transaction is complete. Please omit magazines and newspapers, as they can be recycled.
