Naming the Stephen Curry Interchange: Dec. 30

Former Head Basketball Coach Bob McKillop and Director of Athletics Chris Clunie sat down Wednesday evening to talk about Stephen Curry’s (Davidson ’10) latest endeavor, a book entitled Shot Ready. More than 400 people joined them virtually for the event, with several others watching from the men's practice court.
Clunie just missed being one of Curry’s teammates at Davidson. Clunie graduated in May 2006 and Curry came in August 2006. Clunie's senior class recruited Curry, who was still in his senior year in high school. McKillop was the coach who recruited the under-sized and under-rated high school player from Charlotte. Their discussion went far beyond the average book review. Spanning the decades, they talked about Stephen's recruit performance at a junior basketball program in Las Vegas to his most recent efforts to provide relief support for the people of Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa. Most notably, between the two timeframes, McKillop and Clunie provided personal insights into the magic of Curry on and off the court and how the book captures some of the best of what makes Stephen, Stephen.
They both agree that Curry's Shot Ready is a perfect gift for all the people in your life.
And that could have been how the evening ended, but it wasn't. As the title of this article reflects, Clunie and McKillop were wrapping up the discussion, and they just happened to mention that Stephen is slated to return to campus on December 30. The town and the college will formally celebrate the renaming of Exit 30 on I-77 to the 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙥𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝘾𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 at halftime of the men's basketball game against Duquesne.
