Children in K-5th grade are invited to drop in to the library on Mondays from 4 p.m.- 6 p.m. for Homework Help! Trained Homework Help volunteers provide a welcoming and supportive environment where young learners can:
- Get help completing assignments
- Practice important foundational math and reading skills (such as math facts or reading)
- Explore and get connected to important Library resources, including Tutor.com, a free professional tutoring service that provides 15 free tutoring sessions in any subject each week with a Library card or ONE Access account
Whether your child needs a little extra support, or a focused one-on-one support session, Homework Help is a great way to build confidence and stay on track. Let us partner with you in your child’s learning journey! Note: While our homework help program is intended for student support, it is not a tutoring service. Volunteers provide help and guidance to the best of their ability, but are not certified teachers. Volunteers do not complete assignments for students. Students are called to work 1 on 1 with a trained volunteer for a 20-minute block after completing a short intake form to share your learning support needs. Davidson provides this program on Mondays from 4 p.m.- 6 p.m., however all Library branches offer Homework Help too! Visit the Homework Help website for additional hours of service.

Join us on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. for The In-Person Davidson Branch Book Club! This month we will be discussing How to Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley. "When Lydia takes a job running the Senior Citizens' Social Club three afternoons a week, she assumes she'll be spending her time drinking tea and playing gentle games of cards. The members of the Social Club, however, are not at all what Lydia was expecting. From Art, a failed actor turned kleptomaniac to Daphne, who has been hiding from her dark past for decades to Ruby, a Banksy-style knitter who gets revenge in yarn, these seniors look deceptively benign--but when age makes you invisible, secrets are so much easier to hide. When the city council threatens to sell the doomed community center building, the members of the Social Club join forces with their tiny friends in the daycare next door--as well as the teenaged father of one of the toddlers and a geriatric dog--to save the building. Together, this group's unorthodox methods may actually work, as long as the police don't catch up with them first." This program will be provided by Davidson library staff.
