CHARLOTTE — Matthew Vannoy hit a grand slam early and helped the Davidson baseball team topple Queens 8-3 at the Stick Williams Dream Fields Tuesday night.

The Wildcats improved to 15-15 with the win.

Vannoy's hard-hit shot to right-center, his second homer of the season, came in a six-run second inning. Also in the second, the Wildcats scored when Theo Loughlin (walk) and Fredy Diaz (hit-by-pitch) batted with the bases loaded.

The Wildcats added a run in the third after Matt Manjooran led off with a double and scored on a Loughlin fielder's choice. They made it 8-3 in the eighth on a Forrest Lietz RBI-single.

Davidson utilized six pitchers, beginning with Thomas Whelan, who made his first appearance since 2024. The Wildcats held the Royals to just six hits and kept Queens scoreless after the third inning.
