Hidden Beauty (a Poem for Spring)

Hidden Beauty
(a poem for Spring)
It looked like death as
leaves fell in
moments of pause
Life seemed drained
of its beauty
as the grays of
Winter offered
a sense of
finality
But it was simply
Creation holding
its breath
only to exhale
a dawn of
new life
So now it is time
for those who
waited to receive
a new breath
given at the bidding
of time
that passes
We who wait
with impatience
call it “seasons”
but the truth is
revealed in the
turning of a
life that is
larger than us
It is called “Spring” and
its wonder will
last for a while
Falling leaves will
again wait their turn
as the cycle
of life
smiles at how
small we are
