DAVIDSON — Anthony Torreso homered twice and Davidson twice led by five runs, but Richmond scored six runs in the sixth inning and held on for a 10-9 series-clinching win Sunday afternoon at Wilson Field.

The 2-1 series loss ends a streak of five straight Atlantic 10 series victories for the Wildcats, who fell to 24-21 overall and 15-9 in the league. With two A-10 series to play, Davidson is tied with VCU for second in the league, seven games back of front-runner Saint Joseph's and a game ahead of Richmond.

Torreso hit two-run blasts to left-center in the first and fourth innings Sunday, taking his season total to eight home runs. A Fredy Diaz bases-loaded walk in the fourth made it 8-3, and Forrest Lietz's RBI-single in the fifth put the Wildcats ahead 9-4.

But the Spiders (27-20, 14-10) scored six runs on five hits and an error to pull ahead in the sixth. The Wildcats loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth, had two runners on in the eighth and got a leadoff Torreso hit in the ninth, but couldn't pull even.

Torreso and Diaz finished with three hits apiece, with Diaz adding an RBI-single in the third, which also included a two-RBI single by Theo Loughlin.

Starter Ed Hall threw 3.2 innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs, while striking out two.

Parker Jones allowed just two hits over the final 3.1 innings and struck out two while keeping the Wildcats within a run.
