International Host Families Needed
The smiles tell you everything you need to know about the impact of the International Host Family program.
It's Host Family matching season, and we still need community members to join the Davidson College Host Family Program in order to match all of our incoming students! If you live within ~15ish minutes of Davidson College and are interested in being matched with a student from a different part of the globe as part of an intercultural friendship program, we'd love to have you join our Host Family Program. While all students live on campus and not with their hosts, host families often assist students with airport rides, invite students over for occasional meals in their homes, help them explore the local area, and are another source of support for students as they adjust to life in the U.S.
A current student, Reyna M. '29, shares, "For me, the Host Family Program feels like putting my roots down in the community. You get to meet people from different backgrounds, hear their stories, meet their families, and build connections with people in the Davidson area. It gives international students a chance to experience local traditions, holidays, and everyday life; a level of exposure that can be hard to get in any other way. It is also comforting to know that there is someone nearby who genuinely cares about how you are doing, checks in on you, and is excited to spend time with you."
