It’s Time to Find Waldo in Davidson

Local Establishment Joins Forces in Beloved Annual Event
Search for Waldo Starting July 1
Where’s Waldo? In Davidson, North Carolina of course!
“Find Waldo Local” has become a beloved summertime event in communities nationwide. This year, Candlewick Press and the American Booksellers Association are again teaming up with 325 independent bookstores across the country, including Main Street Books, for some hide-and-seek fun designed to encourage residents to patronize their local businesses. There is no charge to participate, and the hunt starts July 1 and ends at our Where’s Waldo Grand Finale Party on Saturday, August 1.
Families love joining the scavenger hunt to find the iconic children’s book character, with his red-and-white-striped shirt and black glasses, hidden in 33 local establishments, including the Davidson Public Library, Homewood Suites, Knotty & Board, and Whit’s Frozen Custard.
“Find Waldo Local” is a wonderful way to support the “Shop Local” movement by increasing foot traffic to a variety of establishments. “This July, Main Street Books is so happy to bring the Where’s Waldo hunt back to Davidson,” said owner Adah Fitzgerald. “We love the enthusiasm of Waldo seekers, and how the community gets to celebrate and enjoy our local businesses, retailers, restaurants, and other participating locations.”
To join in the fun, people can simply pick up a “Where’s Waldo?” passport at any of the participating locations or download here and print. With each miniature Waldo they spot, searchers get their passport stamped or signed by the participating location. Eagle-eyed hunters can also look for a special Wizard Whitebeard ONLY in Main Street Books!

ABOUT MAIN STREET BOOKS
Main Street Books, established in 1987, is located in the heart of Davidson, North Carolina, just 20 miles north of Charlotte and across the green from Davidson College. We serve the four Lake Norman towns - Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville, and Mooresville, and greater Charlotte region. Situated in the heart of our college town, we take seriously our role in introducing new literature to our readers and hosting literary events and groups. We are an independent, general interest bookstore with robust fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and children's books collections.
Main Street Books' mission is to enrich and sustain the reading lives of local readers and writers with an inclusive, thoughtful literary collection, a creatively curated events calendar, and an engaged staff. We believe that books serve as windows and mirrors. As windows, books are portals into someone else's lived experience. As mirrors, books can reflect - and validate - one's own experiences.
We build our book collection so that when one walks into our bookstore, they have opportunities to imagine, learn, and empathize while finding themselves in stories, too.
