Sloan Street Detour Significant Impact Beginning Monday, July 6, 2026
In an effort to ensure that residents are regularly updated and remain informed, the Town of Davidson is going to send out regular updates about the project to interested and affected residents, including the Davidson West Community Group, and Legacy on the West Side.
This project is being managed by NCDOT, and the Town may not have new information to share, but we will continue to share air quality monitoring and project contact data on a regular basis (every two weeks). The Town is also committed to sharing important project updates in a timely manner.
NCDOT reports the following construction-related activities beginning Monday, July 6, 2026:
1. A temporary road closure along Sloan Street, between Mock Road/Crane Street and Eden Street (see map below), will begin on Monday, July 6 to replace a pipe in the ground. The detour will be in place 7-10 days. They want to do this work while school is out of session.
2. Residents on Sloan Street will still have access to their driveways.
Please seek alternate routes when traveling in the area.

As part of the ongoing road construction in the Town of Cornelius for the NC 115/Potts Street Roundabout Project, the N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will be shifting traffic from South Main Street/NC 115 to Potts Street. The detour will remain in place for months. We will provide updates as we receive them from NCDOT.
South Main Street from Catawba Ave to Twin Oaks Rd will remain open, providing access to businesses, residences, and delivery vehicles. Please continue to support our awesome local businesses during this time!
Motorists without a destination within this section of South Main Street should use designated detour routes.
The Town of Davidson anticipates major traffic impacts along South Main Street, Catawba Avenue, Potts Street, and Jetton Street during the detour. Please plan your travel accordingly and seek alternate routes, especially during morning and evening peak traffic hours. Please see the Davidson Road Closure Detour Map below.
