DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Town of Davidson has expanded the responsibilities of Planning Director Jason Burdette, who will now serve as Director of Planning and Housing Initiatives.

In his expanded role, Burdette will continue to lead the Town's Planning Department while providing strategic leadership for Davidson's housing initiatives. His responsibilities will include developing and implementing affordable housing strategies, identifying housing needs and market trends, advancing housing-related policies and programs, coordinating with public and private partners, pursuing grant funding and other financial resources, overseeing affordable housing programs and regulatory requirements, and tracking progress toward the Town's adopted housing goals.

"Davidson has long recognized that housing is essential to maintaining a vibrant, inclusive, and economically resilient community," said Town Manager Austin Nantz. "Jason has demonstrated exceptional leadership in planning and community development, and expanding his role allows us to align our planning and housing efforts better while continuing to advance the Board's strategic priorities."

Since joining the Town of Davidson in 2012, Burdette has played a key role in guiding land-use planning, development review, and the implementation of the Davidson Planning Ordinance. His expanded responsibilities build upon that work by creating a more integrated approach to planning and housing, strengthening partnerships with developers, nonprofit organizations, regional agencies, employers, and other stakeholders.

As Director of Planning and Housing Initiatives, Burdette will also oversee implementation of housing affordability programs, pursue funding opportunities to support housing initiatives, coordinate affordable housing components of development projects, recommend policy and regulatory improvements, and provide strategic guidance to the Town Board and executive leadership on housing-related matters.

"I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve the Town in this expanded capacity," said Burdette. "Housing affordability is one of the most significant challenges facing communities across our region. I look forward to working with our Board, staff, residents, developers, and community partners to advance thoughtful, practical strategies that support Davidson's affordable housing vision while preserving the fundamental qualities that make our town special."
