For the Love of Literacy

Dear Reader,
Perhaps it goes without saying that at Main Street Books, we support all types of literacy—from financial literacy to literacy of the written word. Literacy, in any form, offers access.
The bookstore will host two literacy-focused events as we head into fall!
Women's Financial Literacy Workshop
Date: August 26, 2026
Time: 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Join us for Women & Wealth: Building Confidence Through Financial Literacy, an empowering workshop designed to help women take control of their financial future with confidence. Attendees will learn the fundamentals of budgeting, saving, investing, and retirement planning while gaining practical strategies to make informed financial decisions.
This workshop will be facilitated by Darcy Ridge, a former educator and small business owner who brings a holistic, human-centered approach to wealth management. RSVP here for this ticketed event. Registration is $15.
An Evening at the Bookstore: A Reader's Way to Give Back
Date: September 10, 2026
Time: 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Join Main Street Books and the Augustine Literacy Project (ALP Charlotte) to discover how you can help a young struggling reader unlock the joy of reading that every student deserves. We will have light refreshments while learning about tutoring and volunteer opportunities.
RSVP by September 3 at jheath@alpcharlotte.org.
With cheer,
The Main Street Books team
P.S. Don't forget to join us this Saturday, August 15, for Bookstore Romance Day and our ticketed Book Bedazzling Social (see ticket info HERE).
