In Memoriam: JoAnn Mobley Overstreet

JoAnn Mobley Overstreet passed away peacefully on August 17th at the age of 93.

Born in Shreveport, Louisiana on November 29, 1932, JoAnn is a graduate of the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs) where she was a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity and remained active in the Atlanta Chi Omega Alumnae Association. JoAnn resided in Atlanta, GA for 65 years where she was a docent at the Georgia’s Governor Mansion.

Additionally, she was a proud member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta where she was a member of the Covenant Sunday School Class, Wedding Guild, Memorial Guild and volunteered as a Stephen Minister and usher. An avid bridge player, JoAnn was a member of her local bridge group for over 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Henson Mobley; brother John H. Mobley II; husband James D. Overstreet Jr.; and son James Thomas Overstreet.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Katherine Overstreet and her husband Nevett Grove; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family kindly requests contributions to The Pines at Davidson Resident Support Fund or local Humane Society.
