Men’s Soccer and Gardner-Webb Play to Scoreless Draw
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Despite playing the final 50 minutes a man up and controlling the shot column, 16-6, Davidson had to settle for a scoreless draw at Gardner-Webb in non-conference men’s soccer action Friday evening inside Greene-Harbison Stadium.
With the tie, the ‘Cats move to 0-0-2 on the young season, the Runnin’ Bulldogs are now 0-1-1.
After a goal was taken off the board in the 80th minute due to an offsides, Davidson had another golden opportunity at the 81:40 mark but Ayman Maadir’s blast from 30-yards out hit the left post.
Maadir finished with a pair of shots on target, while Brady McGlone led the ‘Cats with five shots on the night.
Gardner-Webb’s Oliver Weng led both keepers with four saves. Lucas Beltran faced just six shots, but none coming on goal.
The Wildcats also finished with a commanding 12-3 margin in corners.
